Parque Lineal Mburicaó
This project of a lineal park aims at recovering a central urban water stream that crosses half of the city of Asuncion, the Mburicaó. It starts at a strategic public square that is transformed to reach the stream and incorporates spaces that belong to the government but are misused. The goal is to execute at least a small portion of what can become a park that connects the inner city to the river, creating an alternative path for sustainable mobility.
This connecting green infrastructure will serve to link different urban functions and institutions, organized according to the different scales of use from neighborhood to metropolis. The idea was first made public through a blog in 2009 and is acquiring a deeper round of academic research. The theses that followed up on the idea are building a substantial amount of information on the subject. The area is gaining public attention so it can be directed towards the first steps of implementation.
